It is very important not to confuse a black diamond with a “carbonado”. A carbonado is a class of black diamonds that are considered worthless in the jewelry industry. They are defined as a variety of black diamonds that are used for diamond drills, and are irregularly shaped or come in rounded fragments. Most carbonados originated from Brazil.
And although they are really black diamonds, they are priced even lower than gem quality stones. The reason for this is that carbonados are black diamonds that are very porous. So undervalued are they as diamonds that they are even utilized to shape their higher-valued diamond stone counterparts.
So how do you wear black diamonds? There are so many ways to make a black diamond look extremely attractive. One good idea is to have them set on platinum or white gold. This will create a striking contrast between the dark and light tones.
